When I retired from teaching, I focused my attention on creative writing. It was on a Birkbeck evening course in London, that I began writing my first novel, ''Transforming Pandora''. This eventually mushroomed into a trilogy, followed by a fourth book, ''Temple of Dreams'', with a completely different cast of characters, some inhabiting Ancient Greece! My latest offering, [[The Zookeeper''s Dragon: A Magical Modern Fantasy Tale for Grown-Ups by Carolyn Mathews|The Zookeeper's Dragon'']], is in keeping with my interest in the supernatural, (always accompanied by an awareness of how ridiculous it may seem to others).
The following may be a little too paranormal for some – but my latest book was predicted by a medium in 2022. I expected it to be finished within a year, but being widowed and deciding to move house during that time slowed progress down quite a bit. Thank goodness, it’s finally 'hatched' and I hope readers will enjoy ''The Zookeeper’s Dragon'' and receive the love and light that infuses it.
I live in the village of Kings Langley, Hertfordshire, attend a weekly Qigong class in the church hall, support the nearest football team (Watford FC), and enjoy spending time with my two sons and their families.
