My other two favourite historical novels this year are [[Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein]] and [[The Things We Did for Love by Natasha Farrant]], although I should warn you both are significantly darker than this one. For a trans-Atlantic tale set in the same era as this book then [[Bright Young Things by Anna Godbersen]] is absolutely tremendous.
