For more fiction set in the time when HG Wells was at his most influential, [[The Children's Book by A S Byatt]] covers aspects of Fabianism, while [[Half of the Human Race by Anthony Quinn]] addresses aspects of the Suffragette movement and women's rights, that somewhat bizarrely considering his relationships with women that Wells also supported. For more interesting fictional biographies, [[The Taste of Sorrow by Jude Morgan]] is fascinating on the lives of the Brontë sisters, but there's rather less sexual intrigue here, as you might imagine!
