What kid doesn't like sweets or aliens? This book combines the two as George packs up and leaves his house on a mission to Mars to find out what sweets aliens love best. He builds a spaceship and takes off, meeting some very surprising aliens along the way. From the first page, I knew I would enjoy this story and I wasn't disappointed at all. I laughed throughout and looked forward to turning each page to find out what happened next.

Adam Guillain, Charlotte Guillain and Lee Wildish have worked together to create a completely engaging and entertaining world here, in which George is a brilliant portal for early readers to share and enjoy at any time of day or night. The pictures are vivid, bright and well drawn, detailed enough that it is easy to spend lots of time on each page, reading posters on the walls of George's bedroom or the details of his spaceship blueprints.

The different characters that George meets are fun and interesting and the book moves nicely from scene to scene until George finally finds the Martians he has been searching for. He has nearly run out of sweets, but finds a particularly good use for his last bag of marshmallows!

I loved reading this book, though there are some places where the rhymes don't quite scan perfectly, it doesn't detract from the fun and entertaining story and world brought to life by excellent illustrations. I'm looking forward to discovering the rest of the series, and want to find out who George finds to eat with next – I recommend that you do the same!

If you like to read about aliens, then I'd certainly check out Aliens In Underpants Save The World by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort or if you want to read about more sweet related capers, you could always read Sir Scallywag and the Deadly Dragon Poo by Giles Andreae and Korky Paul.
