|summary=A beautiful picture book following the story of a mother tiger and her three cubs from birth to adulthood.
}}
''Tiger'' is a simply stunning picture book following the lives of a tiger family from birth to adulthood. Each page is filled with enchanting pictures of the tigers in the wild, taken by award-winning photographer Suzi Eszterhas.

Eszterhas manages to capture the bond between mother and cubs perfectly, by means of a series of well-timed pictures that tell a story. We see the tigress sprawled out on her back with the cub gazing adoringly at his mother, his tiny claws dwarfed in comparison to her huge outstretched paw. In another picture, the cubs take their first tentative steps into the forest, the vivid green backdrop contrasting with the orange, black and white of the tigers' fur. As the story continues, the cubs grow bigger until finally it is time for them to leave their mother, captured in an almost heart-breaking image of the mother tiger lovingly grooming her full-grown cub for the last time.

The pictures are accompanied by a simple text, which is ideal for sharing with a child, or encouraging young readers to branch out on their own. The images draw the reader in and compliment the narrative perfectly.

The last page of the book contains a list of interesting facts about tigers. For example, did you know that tigers have stripes on their skin as well as their fur? Parents with sensitive children can be safe in the knowledge that the book contains nothing that will upset or offend, with the subject of hunting prey tactfully dealt with and no pictures of the tigers eating other animals.

''Tiger'' is a very special picture book and a wonderful way to engage young children and get them interested in the natural world and the plight of these beautiful creatures worldwide. Eszterhas seems to have looked right into the soul of these animals and captured their very spirit in each image.

Little ones who love tigers will also enjoy the classic picture book [[The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr]]
