The first book in the Laura Marlin series was [[Laura Marlin Mysteries: Dead Man's Cove by Lauren St John|Dead Man's Cove]] and it introduced us to the young orphan who dreams about being a detective. We loved the story and the fully rounded and well-drwawn characters.

Laura continued to be a delightful character in [[Laura Marlin Mysteries: Kidnap in the Caribbean by Lauren St John|Kidnap in the Caribbean]]. She has an independent nature - having lived for years in care - and she's a brilliant role model for the older tween.

The two books are now available together - 450 pages or so of good reading has got to make it a great holiday buy!
