It's coming up to that time of year again – you know it's the one where you make resolutions about going on a diet, getting more exercise, stopping smoking or losing weight. If they last a week into the New Year you're probably doing well – and then you're left with a feeling of failure. Donna Blinston offers advice on how to make your resolutions and how to keep them – and I needed this advice as much as the next couch potato.
Donna's advice is based on Neuro Linguistic Programming, but don't let words like this put you off a new approach introduction to making resolutions – or setting goals at any time of year. There's a brief approach to NLP but this book is for the benefit of those people who want to consider how to set goals rather than those who wish to take on all the techniques. This slim book is actually an extract from another book – ''Psychobabble'' which the author has written and this fact is stated on the back of the book.
Much of the book is common sense, but common sense which is so often overlooked. We've all promised to go to the gym, to lose weight and to drink/smoke less but we forget to be specific with ourselves about exactly how we're going to achieve this or even to what end. Blinston guides us through the making of resolutions and fine tuning them so that we get exactly what we want and acquire the techniques to bring about the result.
