|summary= An interesting introduction to some of the things you can achieve in the Creative mode of Minecraft with a little effort. This is little more than an introduction and it barely scratches the surface of what is possible with this game.

Minecraft isn't just about surviving Creeper attacks or crafting enough torches to stop the Skeletons from spawning near your respawn point. Alongside the survival mode , there is also the Creative side. This book explores what you can do when you aren't having to make everything from scratch.
I've been up to my eyes in Minecraft lately and I looked forward to this book to give me some inspiration and advice. If you've read my review for the [[Minecraft Guide to Exploration: An official Minecraft book from Mojang by Mojang AB|Exploration Guide]] you'll know that whilst my Youngest Two children said that it wasn't for them I still struggled to get the book from them. In the case of this book , the kids openly loved it and begged for a chance to get online and try out some of the things that it suggested. They really, really enjoyed it.
I didn't.
This is a tough sell , to be honest. Minecraft allows for infinite exploration and an unbelievable level of creativity and trying to capture that in 96 pages is never going to be easy. I just think that they could have tried a little harder. If you compare this book to the Exploration Guide it just does not hold up. Whereas that had loads of practical information this is just vague.
It is quite intentional that this work should be generalist in nature as it is supposed to inspire but when you compare it to the hundreds of videos and other books that have been created unofficially it is sadly lacking.
Beginners will find this interesting but very quickly you'll tire of its limitiationslimitations.
Further reading [[Minecraft: The Island by Max Brooks]] is a perfect companion to this book as is [[Minecraft Guide to Exploration: An official Minecraft book from Mojang by Mojang AB]]. We also have a review of [[Minecraft: The Survivors' Book of Secrets by Stephanie Milton]].
