Little Rabbit is getting ready for bed. It's getting late, so can you help him? He's going to need to get his pyjamas on, and his pillow needs fluffing, and he might need a little stroke on his back, or for his ears to have a tickle. What a sleepy little rabbit he is!

This is a very sweet board book to share with little ones. The idea throughout is that the readers help Little Rabbit to get to bed, by tapping him on his shoulder to get his attention, or clapping your hands so he puts on his pyjamas. The instructions are all quite simple, and the smallest readers will be able to join in with a clap, whilst slightly older ones can call out ''Hoppity Hop!'' to get Little Rabbit into bed. You get to tickle him, stroke him, tuck him in with a kiss and finally turn out the light, sending him off to his sweet dreams.

I liked the stages that the story goes through. I was a little disappointed that we don't help Little Rabbit to brush his teeth, since this is often an issue in many households! But we're told that he has done this already, so at least it's included in the story that way. The stages of getting him to bed are simple, too, and so they could be easily adopted by any parents struggling with their bedtime routine and looking for a little continuity from one night to the next. In putting Little Rabbit to bed you can, also, put your own little one to bed by following the same routine and making a game of it with your own little sleepy rabbit.

Little Rabbit himself, as an illustration, is very sweet. I would have liked a little more difference in his expressions - he mostly looks the same unless he's yawning or laughing at his tickle! But that's a small fault really. The book also would have been lovely if as you tickled his ears or stroked his back there was a tactile element to the page, like all of the 'That's not my…' books. These are only small points, however, and overall I really liked the gentle nature of the book, and the sweetness of the illustrations. The colours are soft, ideal for a calm bedtime. I particularly like the final picture, showing Little Rabbit asleep in bed, that has all the lights turned out and so is drawn in muted middle-of-the-night colours. This makes it just the right note to end on before bedtime. Soft and sweet, this is a lovely bedtime read.
