Inary Monteith is confused. She's just spent the night with her close friend, Alex and it seems that it means more to him that she will allow it to mean to her. After her fiance ditched her not that long before the wedding she decided that she would never allow herself to be hurt like that again. Then the problem seems to be solved for her as she has to leave London and return to Glen Avich in the Scottish Highlands. Her sister, Emily, has been waiting for a heart transplant but it now looks very unlikely that she will make it through to an operation.

Inary has mixed feelings about going home too. It will be good to see Emily and her brother, but she wishes it was under better circumstances. On the other hand, the nearby loch terrifies her and has done since she was a teenager. Inary was blessed with 'the sight' which enabled her to see dead people but she lost it when she nearly died in a boating accident on the loch - and it was the knowledge that she'd had this gift which led to the breakup with Lewis.

I first visited Glen Avich in [[Watch Over Me by Daniela Sacerdoti|Watch Over Me]], although 'visited' is perhaps the wrong word as it's the sort of place which wraps itself around you like a warm blanket, but it was this wonderful place which tempted me to read ''Take Me Home''. Eilidh Lawson, whom we met in ''Watch Over Me'' is still there and is a good friend to Inary and her family. My one reservation with ''Watch Over Me'' was the paranormal element of the story, which really isn't to my personal taste and in Take Me Home quite a large part of the story revolves around a dead person who is visible to those with 'the sight'. Once again it's dealt with sensitively and even I managed to read and enjoy the story.

If you're looking for an engaging read with some strong characters then this could well be just what you're looking for. I'd like to thank the publishers for sending a copy to the Bookbag.
