 Clive Lawton was born in Redhill, Surrey in 1977. Having spent eighteen years in his home town, he has been moving from one place to another ever since. After studying English Literature at the University of Southampton, he gained a PGCE to enable him to teach students over the age of sixteen. He has held a variety of positions, including an A-Level teacher at a college in West London, a special needs assistant, and a language school tutor in Guernsey, Channel Islands.

		+	Clive first went to Japan in July 2006 and worked for a private language school in Tokyo. After his one year visa expired he had spells working in Taiwan and the UK, but returned to Japan in the Springtime of 2010. When the force nine earthquake struck off the coast of Fukushima on 11th March 2011, Clive was in Tokyo. Within a few days he travelled north into Ibaraki prefecture where the extent of the damage was far greater, and later went south to the peace of Kyoto – free from the constant aftershocks.

		+	Experiences from his first year in Japan make up the autobiographical 'Japanese Journal', which is available as a digital download on Amazon. The novel 'Flowers From Fukushima' was inspired by events following the earthquake and subsequent tsunami, and media reports at that time.
