In this final book of the quartet it is Elian and his dragon Aurora's turn to solve the riddle and find the final orb. Although Elian has his doubts about the Oracle, he's convinced that a Kingdom under the Night Dragon riders rule would be worse. Finding the orb isn't their only problem though. Segun has arranged for the entire Night Dragon enclave to guard the entrance to the Oracle's cave. Not only must Elian and his friends find an orb, they must also find a way to reach the Oracle. And this final orb demands a greater sacrifice than any before.

This is a good ending to a series that children will love. My ten year old brother is hooked on the series and they are his favourite books! With each book the stakes are raised and this one is no exception. Aurora has heard of a startling new power within her grasp and must master it for they need all of the help they can get. The Dragon hunters are back once again and there is more than one air battle with the Night Dragons.

I do enjoy these books, though it must be admitted that they are not particularly original and are riddled with clichés. Still, it cumulates to create books that, if not masterpieces, are still enjoyable. The characters of the Dragon riders grow and develop somewhat as they learn to appreciate one another, but personally I prefer the characters of the dragons themselves. It's interesting how similar they are to one another, yet each has a distinct personality. It is the characters that set this series apart as interesting and exciting. There are a few confusing aspects to the story, such as their blind obedience to the Oracle despite the fact that they all have their doubts about him.

While the ending is a complete conclusion to the series, there are a few small scenes that indicate the author is leaving the possibility of another series open. Full of adventure and action, ''Aurora'' is exciting to read and the finale is especially dramatic. It's perhaps the cleverest of the books so far, both in plotting and tying together all of the separate storylines. It's not the greatest example of literature but it is fun and exciting, a conclusion to the series.
