OK, I guess we all know about '''that''' wedding which is coming up not too long after the publication date for this book and I'm sure that it's not a coincidence.  It's not a rip-off though as it's a good story, with a lot of interesting points which I'd never thought about in terms of relationships with royalty.  I thought that the Prince was perhaps just a little too good to be true until we had a small attack of petulance and I heaved a sigh of relief.  They're characters you can relate to – even the parallel universe king, queen and prince and princess came off the page royally.

Bella Greenwood has just been away on a tropical island doing an eco-job for a man she though she rather fancied. She returned home when she realised that she was being taken for a mug and when it came down to it she didn't really fancy the man that much either. Getting back into the swing of things is a little difficult though – he mother and step-father have a full house and can't take her in. Her father is up a mountain somewhere and she's just thankful that her friend Lottie is prepared to take her in at short notice – and to take her to a posh party.

She's always been clumsy but knocking over a pile of planters and getting entangled in the ivy is pretty good, even for her. Thankfully a knight in shining armour comes to her rescue – although he's not actually a knight. He's a prince and the country's most eligible bachelor. Bella is one of the few people who's not unduly bothered by this – but as the relationship progresses she's shocked at the extent to which she becomes public property and at the people who take against her for no good reason.

OK, I guess we all know about that wedding which is coming up not too long after the publication date for this book and I'm sure that it's not a coincidence.

It's of the moment, but it's a well-written, well-researched and entertaining read. What more can you ask? Sophie has told us about the research she did for this book in Research? But it's Only a Romantic Novel!.

I'd like to thank the publishers for sending a copy to the Bookbag.

If this book appeals then you'll probably enjoy A Perfect Proposal by Katie Fforde.
