It’s long been accepted that when you go to school and your parents are at work, your toys come alive and have adventures until you return. EVERYBODY knows that. But have you ever thought about the other things in your house and whether they have a second life? Here’s a hint: they DO. Welcome to the Flying Bath.

Told in a short, punchy rhyme, this is a book that’s funner than fun, cuter than cute and more adorable than you can possibly imagine. The bath, you see, is rather busy. Animals all over the world are in need of its water dispensing services, and with turtle, frog and dog at the helm, it’s off to the rescue. The first stop is the outback where a Kangaroo is super thirsty:

Slurp slurp, a nice long drink She's going to be all right I think.

Who is next? How about a bee whose flowers are wilting? A shower can sort them out! As the story goes on we see again and again how fundamental water is to the life of animals and plants, both in terms of sustaining them but also in other ways, from washing to putting out fires. To these guys, this bath is definitely the 4th emergency service. At the end of the day the gang have to return home, ready for the children's bath time but what's that? There's a surprise waiting for them in the tub.

This book is brilliant. The pictures are alive with colour and just jump off the page, and I loved the rhyming nature, plus the repeated chorus between each stop.

Highly recommended, this would be great for pre-school classes as well as for reading at home.

Thanks go to the publishers for supplying this book.

We absolutely adore Julia Doaldson here, so if you're new to this fab writer, do go and check her out.
