Uh oh. Pom Pom is in a BAD MOOD. Nothing is going right today, the world is against him, and everyone is just rubbing him up the wrong way. Harrumph!
If you’ve come across [[:Category:Sophy Henn|Sophie Sophy Henn]] before, you will know exactly what to expect with this one. The most adorable illustrations, simple stories but ones that require a bit of problem solving, not just a dull tale. Pom Pom is the cutest, even when he’s sulking. It’s probably a good thing he can’t hear me say that because there’s nothing more irritating when you’re trying to go off in a huff than being told you look precious doing so. He’s not a bad little panda in any way, shape or form, because although it seems his mother and brother are both going out of their way to wind him up, he doesn’t snap at them or try to pinch his toys back. He just folds his arms with a big sigh.
This is such a pleasing book to read, not just for finding out how the story ends (will anything be able to perk up Pom Pom’s day?) but because it’s a feast for your eyes. The colours are just wonderful and the illustrations a tad old fashioned which had a calming effect on me. Perfect for bedtime! It’s amazing how much emotion can come through cartoon eyes and when Pom Pom realised his error my heart went out to him. Luckily there’s a happy ending – of course there’s a happy ending – and it’s smiles and games all round. Well, almost…
