So, why was I so desperate to read it, and why did I stay up until one to finish it? Quite simply, it's amazing! Okay, in some ways it's more of the same, but when more of the same means more wonderful characters, more brilliant plotting, and more laugh out loud lines - with my favourite being ''Abort the toast! Abort the toast!'' - that's certainly not a criticism! Pea is as charming as ever, the family dynamic between her, her sisters, and her scatter-brained mum is still great, and it still reminds me of a modern twist on Noel Streatfeild and the other greats of the genre. Susie Day’s writing style is lovely and really draws you in, making it a quick and altogether delightful read.
Huge recommendation, fairly obviously. Susie Day assures me [[Pea's Book Of Birthdays by Susie Day|book 3 ]] will be out later this year. I can't wait!
For more wonderful tales about a really lovely family, don't miss [[The Exiles by Hilary McKay]].
