Whilst it does have some very fine examples of prose writing within the stories, I felt disconnected from the narrator, who is the daughter of a recently deceased man who was involved in a Turkish military coup in 1980. There and is therefore a lot of examples of the narrator relating the conversations they had shared regarding ''revolution'', black and the way this had affected the daughter's upbringing white and childhoodred.
