Many will be sad that the series has finally come to an end and the Epilogue is touching and poignant, bringing things full circle to the first line of the first book: ''There were dragons when I was a boy.''
The book works as a standalone novel, but readers may wish to read the previous books in the series, such as the excellent [[How to Betray a Dragon's Hero (How To Train Your Dragon) by Cressida Cowell|How to Betray a Dragon's Hero]]. You might also enjoy [[The Wizards of Once by Cressida Cowell]] and [[King Flashypants and the Evil Emperor by Andy Riley]], although we did have some reservations about that last one..
