Another TV tie-in in the Fifi and the Flowertots series, this little board book presents a decent opportunity for teaching basic colours (plus pink).

Each page presents a picture from the Flowertots universe which focuses on a particular colour (but in a realistic way, not to the exclusion of everything else). A panel with a printed name of the colour on the most typical shade background is also included, as well as a short text with questions to guide the interaction.

We start with Fifi's bedroom which is pink (as are Fifi's boots and jumper). Other pages cover yellow and blue (on one spread), green, red and finally all the colours together.

I liked the fact that each colour covered was represented by various shades from pale to dark.

The biggest limitation was obviously the small number of colours included: pink is there, but apart from green no secondary colours are covered (although both purple and orange are included in the final spread).

It certainly is not Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? but it's a pretty decent one (for a TV tie-in in particular, possibly because there is very little text), and I found the format worked well for my toddler (just under three years old) who's in the process of learning colours. He happily pointed out to different objects and named their colours.

The review copy was sent to the Bookbag by the publisher - thank you!

We have more Fifi for older children ...while The Number Garden by Sara Pinto is a great example of pre-school edutainment, this time as a counting book.
