A few months after the Formorian war, Shannon Parker is living the high life. Hailed as Goddess Incarnate, married to a man (well, centaur) who was born to love her, carrying her first child, the next daughter of Epona and royally spoiled with amazing jewels and clothes, life really can't get much better.

But then Shannon is sucked back into Oklahoma by well meaning Shaman Clint Freeman, her husband's mirror image. Clint hoped to rescue Shannon from the horrors of the Formorian war, not realising Shannon was perfectly happy in Partholon, thank you very much.

But Shannon isn't all that's come through. An ancient evil, thought dead, begins haunting Oklahoma, bringing uncharacteristic snow storms and chaos. Nuada, killed on the battlefields, is out to kill everyone Shannon ever cared about, and it's up to her and Clint to stop it. Only this isn't Partholon, and though Shannon is still beloved of the Goddess, without anyone to help her understand exactly what that means, will she ever be able to? And will she ever be able to return to Partholon?

Much the same as the first instalment, this is a fairly silly, but fun fantasy romance. The action is taken out of the mystical world of Partholon and plonked in the middle of nowhere, Oklahoma, which is an interesting change of scenery. Shannon on her own, without the guidance of her faithful servants and husband, is a much more vulnerable character, and it's nice to see her muddling through.

There are a few things wrapped up a little too conveniently. Shannon's friend's husband, lauded in the first book as a nice guy, perfect for her friend, blah blah blah, is conveniently 'remembered' as selfish and jealous, in a clumsy bid to give Shannon less to miss in the world she intends to leave behind. These little details detract from what could be an anguish filled final decision, to stay in Oklahoma or return to Partholon. No major, life changing decision like that should be made easy for a character. Not if you want your book to be worthy of more than three stars anyway.

My thanks to the publishers for sending a copy.
