Poor Colin is a stray cat happy enough with his life until one fateful day when he gets tired. Being without a home, this means he must nose about looking for a comfy, quiet place out of the way of the rest of the busy world in order to have a snooze. Anyone owning a cat will understand his attraction to an open cardboard box, which unfortunately for Colin is at a delivery depot. Cue him getting parcelled up and routed to all sorts of hilarious destinations only to be rejected by those receiving their parcel. No one likes rejection, especially when all they want is peace, quiet, and a good sleep, so Colin gets grumpy. Having had enough, he decides to take action. Will Colin manage to escape and find a nice place to sleep? Granny Flapjack can tell you...

With a simple, conversational style text with dryly witty asides and vibrant collage style art that is rich in texture, this book reminds me and my children of the Charlie and Lola books in style. Just watch out for the nonstop giggles as Colin's different destinations are revealed , not to mention the quite amusing items that the parcel recipients were expecting. Its ending is filled with pure warmth and reassurance as Colin discovers he was really after more than just a nice place to sleep, making this a sure fire winner for sharing at bedtime or on a quiet afternoon. Newly confident readers will no doubt enjoy this story book on their own as well thanks to the simple language.

I'd like to thank the publishers for sending a copy to The Bookbag.

For the classic book for cat-loving children we can recommend Mog the Forgetful Cat by Judith Kerr.
