Michael-gallagher.jpg

Michael Gallagher, grew up in a housing scheme on the edge of Pollok Park, Glasgow — the setting for his novel, Jamie’s Keepsake. He left school at 15 to serve an apprentice as a welder in the shipyards, and by age 20 he was working offshore on the oil rigs. After studying engineering, he moved on to work for various oil companies in a management role, travelling to sites worldwide. He then took on the role of Company Safety Adviser for EDF Energy amongst the boffins in the nuclear power industry where he worked for 20 years before retiring in 2019.

Meeting people from all walks of life has influenced Michael’s writing, but none more than his childhood buddies, characters who are reflected in the novel, Jamie’s Keepsake, and who have remained his lifelong friends.
