I wanted to read ''Caligula'', as I'm a big fan of the 1970s television series ''I, Claudius'' which introduced me to the brutal Emperor Caligula, then played brilliantly by John Hurt. Reading the book, it was John Hurt's face who popped into my head whenever the character of Caliluga appeared!
