Overall it is easy to understand why this became, and remains, a children's classic. I believe it will continue to delight girls between the ages of around eight and twelve.
If you enjoyed this and would like to read another story set in this era (but written far more recently) try [[Murder Most Unladylike (Wells & Wong Mystery 1) by Robin StevensStevensMurder Most Unladylike]] or [[Arsenic for For Tea (A Wells and Wong Mystery) by Robin Stevens|Arsenic For Tea]]both by Robin Stevens.
