Alan and his mum have moved to live with his cousin Courtney to help her and his Auntie now that his Uncle is dead. Alan never knew his father, the only thing he knows is that he was Navajo and his name was Whitedeer. Alan has supernatural abilities too, thanks to his Navajo roots and he's not going to let his cousin be possessed without a fight. Together Aimee and Alan team up to fight an evil that has smothered the town for hundreds of years.
This book terrified me in places, and I found myself jumping at sudden noises while I was engrossed in it – it's certainly well paced. The book is written in alternating view points by Aimee, (Carrie Jones, ) and Alan, (Steven E. Wedel, ) which does add something extra to this book – the character voices and personality are well built upon because of this varying writing style between the two authors. There were moments when the alternating authors got a bit confusing, but overall it worked well.
The plot is interesting, frightening and something new in the supernatural genre, which is always a plus in a genre that is getting swamped by vampires. I loved the Navajo aspect of the plot, but wish there would have been more of it – it was something quite special. Overall, it was good book and had a nice romantic storyline running alongside the main supernatural story, the relationship between Aimee and Alan was exciting to see develop. If you like your supernatural romances this is the book for you!
