Russell Mardell.jpg

Russell was born in Cambridge but grew up in Salisbury, Wiltshire. Having originally trained in film production in London, he has worked on several short films and is currently an associate producer on a forthcoming music documentary. Before starting his first novel he wrote for the British stage for several years and has had plays performed in London, Manchester and Salisbury.

His first published work was the quirky short story collection, 'Silent Bombs Falling on Green Grass,' and that was followed by 'Stone Bleeding' a very dark satire on celebrity culture. More recently he has published the dystopian horror novel, 'Bleeker Hill' and its sequel, 'Darkshines Seven.' 'Cold Calling,' his fifth novel, was published in March.

Russell lives in Salisbury and is a member of Salisbury Fringe, set up to promote and encourage new writing in the area.
