Lunar Inc. is lying to us. It's been lying to us from the moment lumite power was discovered.

After the dark days of future Earth, where an energy crisis has led to chaos, lumite power has become the only solution for peace. Yet that peace is fragile. The memory of the reactor explosion at Andrianne, ten years ago, is still fresh in the public's mind. FALL, the First Anti-Lumite League, continues to campaign fiercely against the United Government and the company responsible for lumite power – Lunar Inc.

Hiding in a settlement on the Moon, Aggie has no desire to be in the spotlight. But when FALL cause great havoc on Earth, Aggie is forced by Lunar Inc to be their violet-eyed poster Angel, the only survivor of Adrianne and symbol of hope, once more. But Lunar Inc is not as it seems, and as Aggie starts to investigate, she will uncover dangerous truths and begin to question everything she has been told. Moondust has a great concept. The energy crisis subject, which is perhaps inevitable, is interesting to ponder, and imagine what might happen in the future as a result. It's very interesting to read about and worrying to realise just how dependent we are on fuel and the consequences of that dependence.

The story itself is fantastic. In fact, it's cosmic. Moondust's plot contains some surprising twists which are thrilling and keep you reading page after page, particularly when the story comes to a climax. The characters are also very likable, with the narrator Aggie being very easy to relate to and empathise with as she faces difficult decisions during the story. The side characters, most notably, Seb and Danny were great as well, with both delivering some really funny lines and some more development in these characters would have been nice.

Gemma Fowler's debut novel is a fun, quick read which is highly entertaining, leading you to wonder what could happen in the future, once there is a fuel shortage.

Many thanks to the publisher for providing the Bookbag with a copy for review!

In terms of further reading, The Carbon Diaries 2015 by Saci Lloyd is highly recommended and explores a future Britain under carbon rationing.
