Briefly my background is that I'm an ex-SAS soldier who subsequently worked as a freelance community affairs adviser to the oil and gas industry. My work took me to troubled areas with strong tribal societies such as Yemen, Pakistan and Libya. These experiences deepened my interests in comparative religious studies and global environmental sustainability - the bedrock of this novel.
