|summary=A beautiful picture book for children full of facts and photos about the world's fastest animal: the cheetah.
}}
''Cheetahs'' is part of the new ''Animal Lives'' series by QED publishing. Each book in the series focuses on a different animal and is designed to be both child-friendly and informative.

The first thing that struck me about this book was the excellent use of visuals. Most of the photographs in the book are for a double page spread. The images are crisp and clear and provide a great close-up view of these beautiful cats. Using the photograph as a centrepiece, each two-page section examines a different aspect of cheetah behaviour. Subjects covered include growing up, hunting, territory and cheetahs under threat. The sections have a brief introductory paragraph in large, bold print and then several smaller facts surround the main picture, sometimes including smaller photographs to illustrate the main points.

Everything about the book is designed to appeal to young children. The text is simple and does not overwhelm young readers, the pictures are large and the 'fantastic fact' boxes provide plenty of interesting information to impress friends with. The book also contains a simple glossary at the back, explaining unfamiliar words like 'habitat' and 'subspecies'. There is also a page showing the life cycle of a cheetah, from fluffy cub to sleek adult.

''Cheetahs'' makes an ideal gift for animal-crazy kids and the quality of the images is superb. The book would also be useful for school projects and topic work. Many thanks to the publishers for sending a copy for me to review.

Little ones who enjoy this book will love the tiger family featured in [[Tiger by Suzi Eszterhas]]
