|summary=Something BIG is coming and the forest animals run and hide. What will happen when the big beast catches up with them?
}}
The forest animals are all quietly minding their own business when:

DA-DUMP! DA-DUMP! DA-DUMP!

Something big causes the ground to shake, the trees to tremble and the rocks to rattle. It was a terrible noise!

The animals run away as quickly as they can, but when they reach a dead end, the terrible noise gets louder and louder. The beast is catching up with them! What will happen to the forest friends now?

''The Big Splash'' is an action-packed picture book that is certain to have little ones giggling with delight. The book has the type of repetitive narrative that young children love, as each page shows a different animal being disturbed by the Da-Dump, Da-Dump, Da-Dump noise (definitely a cue for bouncing your giggly toddler up and down on your knee!) and quickly running away. My favourite character was the skunk frolicking in the flowers to freshen herself up!

Throughout the book the author uses an interesting variety of descriptive words that will encourage little ones to expand their growing vocabulary.

The artwork is appealing with lots of action on each page and a big surprise at the end, or maybe not such a big surprise given the title of the book and cover art...

''The Big Splash'' is one of those books for which one reading is never enough. Little ones will want to share this story over and over again. Many thanks to the publishers for sending the review copy to Bookbag.

[[Mum's Cronky Car by Anita Pouroulis and Jon-Lycett Smith]] is another fun story for sharing that features a similar style of artwork to this book.
