Fantasy and science fiction can have all these things as well, but they can also be fun, entertaining and laser pistols. ‘Libriomancer’ by Jim C Hines is a great example. It is a book that follows Isaac Vainio, a Libriomancer who has the power to draw magic from books. He must use this gift to good effect when one day, whilst sitting comfortably cataloguing, he is attacked by three vampires. Does that sound fun to you? If so, read on; if not, this may not be the book for you.|amazonuk=<amazonuk>0091953456</amazonuk>}} {{newreview|author=Mur Lafferty|title=Ghost Train to New Orleans: Book 2 of the Shambling Guides|rating=4

|summary= After delivering [[The Shambling Guide to New York City (Shadow Of The Shambling Guides) by Mur Lafferty|The Shambling Guide to New York]]Gods is the first installment of the Bloodsworn Saga, a travel guide for set in the coterie era of the undeadVikings in the shadow of Ragnarok, Zoe when the inadvertent citytalker goes Gods have battled and their bones lie scattered for all to New Orleans see. This story is the ultimate in High Fantasy, and John Gwynne certainly does justice to research the next one. She sets off with a feeling of foreboding, but perhaps she's being overly pessimistic? I meangenre, she's travelling with two godsmythical creatures, (one of whom archaic language and battles galore. This is a rather strident ex-Valkyrie)thick book, with an intricate plot and fascinating characters that are woven together to create a baby dragon, two vampires (one of whom hates her) wonderfully realistic and Arthur, her boyfriend the Public Works employee. (Yes, Public Works as gritty world in the body that polices and, where necessary, clears away the coteriewhich our heroes must do battle.) Oh and by the way, Arthur may be turning into a zombie soon. The trip will be fine; what could possibly go wrong?|amazonukisbn=<amazonuk>0356501914</amazonuk>0356514218
