Michael Foreman has done some great books and this is just the latest. It is a tale that is both cute and classic with delightful illustrations to boot, and although there’s a tiny bit of fear when Cat goes missing, it’s not prolonged and builds to a wonderful sense of relief when they are all reunited. The messages are good, positive ones, about making friends and not being put off by prejudices, and there’s also a feeling that this is a satisfying, simple life for the animals, where nature is to be valued over technology or modern conveniences.
This is a fine book for the pre-school gang, either for bedtime reading or for sharing in nursery story timestorytime. The hardback is sturdy and although the pictures are detailed, they would do well being held up for a class to look at together. Highly recommended, I would like to thank the publishers for sending us this book. We also have a review of I Love You Too by Michael Foreman.
The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr is another popular one for this age group.
