The eagerly-awaited conclusion to Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguié's Wicked series is finally here. After over three years of wondering and waiting to find out how this enthralling supernatural series will end, readers can finally dive straight into the war between good and evil with Resurrection and discover the answers to the secrets that have been kept from them.

We catch up with the Cahors struggling to survive in a world of confusion. Everything they thought they knew only a year ago has changed and, as the coven is forced apart by new enemies, the three young women must fight to keep the bloodline from facing destruction. The centuries-old feud with the Deveraux is also at a standstill as the two families find themselves confronting forces they'd never thought they'd encounter.

While leader of the coven, Holly, is trekking through Europe with her cousin and his followers in a bid to rid the world of warlocks who pose a threat, Nicole is adjusting to life as a new mother under the watchful and protective eye of her twin sister, Amanda. Each witch faces her own journey to finally overcome and it is in this book that we really start to notice how each of the girls have changed throughout the series.

When we first met Holly in Witch, she was just a young teenage girl grieving after the loss of her parents and best friend. Over the series we have seen her discover witchcraft, form her own coven, and succumb to temptation from darker forces. Now she must face the consequences of her actions while struggling to come to terms with the fact that the love of her life, Jer Deveraux, may have disappeared from her forever.

It is Holly's cousins, however, who have changed the most throughout the series and now, at a time when they can best reflect on all they've been through, we really begin to see the development of each character.

The popular and self-centred schoolgirl Nicole, who'd ignore her twin sister, is now a mother with no knowledge of how her pregnancy even came about or who the father is. Torn between the love of two men and determined not to let the foretold prophecies about her son, Owen, come true, Resurrection finally introduces us to the mature and fierce young woman Nicole has become. Her gradual but significant transition is a real eye opener to us readers about the impact the supernatural world has had on these characters that we've grown to care about.

Alongside Nicole is her faithful sister, Amanda, who is also facing her own decisions this time around about how much she'd be willing to sacrifice for the ones she loves.

I can't even begin to describe how much I was looking forward to reading this book. Having built up a genuine love and excitement for the series over the last year, I willingly joined the league of fans, patiently waiting to see what kind of climax Holder and Viguié would bring to this series.

While you'd be forgiven for assuming that there were too many mysteries and secrets in the series to be revealed in a satisfying enough way in a 400 page book, you'll be happy to know that Holder and Viguié manage it with flying colours. Nothing is rushed and nothing seems half-heartedly thought up on a spur-of-the-moment to try and justify what might have earlier happened. Everything that kept us on edge for four books is finally allowed to be unleashed in a heart-stopping climax packed full of action, magic, war, mystery and, of course, love. At the centre of this witch and warlock battle lies a spellbinding love story that is carried over hundreds of years and generations. Any reader still having doubts about whether to give this series a go should know that unlike any other young adult set, Wicked has all the elements you'd ever wish for. The stories are filled with plenty of action and adventure but not to the amount that it overshadows the story.

Complete with a stunning group of characters that all have unique elements and aspects to their personality, you'll be sure to find someone to connect to and empathise with in no time.

The climactic scenes of Resurrection are exactly what we've all been hoping for, with a perfect amount of stunning imagery captured in Holder and Viguié's writing. Readers shouldn't expect a predictable ending but, rest assured, I have no doubt they'll be satisfied with the thrilling ride they're sure to undertake. By now every character has become relatable: as they've changed with every book, we've grown to know them and connect with them in a way that pulls us right into the story alongside them.

Resurrection really is a must-read. This is a perfect finish to the Wicked series and one that I can't imagine any fan will be left disappointed with. I thoroughly hope we see more collaborations from Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguié in the future and will be making sure to look up some of their solo projects in the meantime.

Thank you very much to the publishers for sending this and thank you even more to The Bookbag for allowing me to review this series. I honestly don't know how fans who weren't able to get their hands on the double editions of this series coped with waiting to find out what happened with each book. I'd recommend the series to anyone and everyone.

Fans of all things witchy will love The Witching Hour by Elizabeth Laird. If you lean more towards vampires, By Midnight by Mia James is a super read.
