Olivia Jones, daughter of serial killers, has successfully proved her parents innocent of one murder. With that seed of doubt planted, she's out to prove them innocent of the rest. She knows the people of mysterious little town Cainsville know more than they are saying, but trying to get them to talk about anything - from her parents to Olivia's strange ability to read omens - is like trying to get get blood from a stone.

When someone leaves the body of a dead girl in her car, it's clearly a message to back off. But Olivia doesn't take kindly to the message, and neither does her lawyer, Gabriel Walsh. Investigating will uncover more of Cainsville's secrets, bringing Olivia closer to the truth about her parents and her unique heritage. But it will also put her life in danger once again...

Kelley Armstrong is definitely someone who trusts her readers. Although Visions does a lot of revealing in terms of the mysteries of Cainsville, it's definitely a slow burning tease - taunting you with hints and clues before finally relinquishing enough details to placate you, but not give the entire game away.

And it should be more frustrating than it is, but honestly, Armstrong's characters are so engaging, you just like being in the same head space as them. It helps that the case of the dead body in the car moves along at a far more rapid pace, so where answers about Cainsville are only barely hinted at, the episodic part of the plot is wrapped up nicely by the end of the book, leaving you feeling satisfied, but still tantalised by the setting and background stuff enough that you really want to read more.

It's still very different from her Women of the Otherworld series, even with the paranormal elements coming more to the surface than in previous instalment, Omens, but if you enjoyed Omens, I'm confident you'll continue to love what Armstrong's doing in this series. Fantastic characters, fascinating things happening in the background, and a gory mysterious main plot - I can't recommend this highly enough.

My thanks to the publishers for sending a copy.
