Tamsyn Thorne was not looking forward to returning to Cornwall for her brother Ruan's wedding. They had fallen out years ago and had not spoken since. However, for the sake of the family, she had agreed to attend, and even be a bridesmaid, but as far as she was concerned, she would leave the little Cornish village at the first opportunity.

However, things did not turn out as planned. As soon as she arrived, there was a horrendous storm which cut the village off. Then, as she is walking through the churchyard as she returns to her hotel, Tamsyn discovers a small Moses basket containing a tiny baby, only hours old. She is thrust into caring for it, if only in a temporary capacity, while the town is cut off and there's also the small matter of putting her dress designer skills to good use as her future sister in law's dress needs recovering from flood damage. Before she knows it, Tamsyn is in the thick of everything and surprisingly enjoying being part of the town that she turned her back on so many years before. That could also possibly have something to do with Jed, the incredibly handsome young vicar whose path she keeps managing to cross.

What follows is a light-hearted entertaining tale that leads Tasmyn to make big decisions about her life. She starts off as a pretty shallow character who is more concerned about fashion labels than real people. Yet, she changes as she starts to discover the things that are really important in life particularly when they concern caring for a tiny, vulnerable baby.

It took a while to get into this book, but if you can persevere, it does provide some light and easy entertainment which would make perfect holiday reading. It is a bit silly in places but at the heart of it there is a feel feel good factor.

I had read a couple of books from Scarlett Bailey previously, which on reflection I enjoyed more than this one. I was also surprised to discover that Scarlett Bailey also writes as Rowan Coleman who is one of my favourite authors and one who tackles weightier issues in her writing. I felt that, writing as Scarlett Bailey, this was an outlet for the more frivolous side of her nature. I think that she writes better as Rowan Coleman though; knowing she was the same person made me expect more from this book and ultimately left me a little disappointed.

If you are looking for another light, easy read, you could try Amelia Grey's Fireside Dream by Abby Clements. I would also recommend seeing how Scarlett Bailey writes as Rowan Coleman and take a look at Lessons in Laughing Out Loud
