|Summary: The Vintage Teacup Club' is a wonderful novel about the joy and power of friendship. Three women meet unexpectedly when, at the same time, they all set eyes upon and fall in love with four vintage teacups and saucers at a local sale. Each woman has her own reason for wanting them but how will they agree who will keep them? Is it possible that they could all have a share?|

Jenny, Maggie and Alison meet at a car boot sale. Jenny is looking for vintage tea sets to serve tea at her wedding to Dan in a few month's time. She spots four cups and saucers that would be ideal but at the same time, the cups are also spotted by Maggie and Alison who also want them. Over a cup of tea, they realise that each of them needs them at a different time so it could be possible to buy them and then share them. Jenny will have them first at her wedding, then Maggie will use them in the 'Alice in Wonderland' garden she is creating, before finally passing them on to Alison who will use them as scented candle holders. It's a good solution and one that will lead to a strong and lasting friendship between the three of them.
As the Summer progresses, we learn more about each of the three women and their lives. Each is facing some sort of crisis and before they know it, they are starting to form a support group as they turn to each other in their times of need. It's a most heart-warming and satisfying read and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. The three women's stories merge together very well and it's very easy for the reader to become immersed in all of them.
As one gets to know the characters, they start to feel like old friends. Each woman is loyal and caring and it's no surprise to see how well they all get on together. Their menfolk are interesting too and I felt that Vanessa Greene has created some wonderfully real characters in this book. I thought that the relationships in this story were really absorbing.
I thoroughly enjoyed 'The Vintage Teacup Club' from start to finish and I could hardly bring myself to put the book down. It's Vanessa Greene's first book and I think that it is a wonderful début which has such a novel idea at the heart of it I can only hope that it is the first of many from this new author.
Why not also take a look at The Bridesmaid Pact by Julia Williams which is another great tale of friendship.
