Mat Waugh is a 40-something father of three young girls who lives in the south east of England. He grew up with a love of children's literature - one of his most prized possessions is a much-forwarded, well-travelled letter from Clive King (author, Stig of the Dump).

Mat always nursed an ambition to write his own children's book, but bizarrely he waited until he had the least free time imaginable to finish the job. With his first book, Cheeky Charlie, and the sequel now in progress, Mat has one simple aim: to make children laugh. Because his favourite sound in all the world is a giggling young reader.
