I started writing in my 20s but despite my passion and commitment, life and my career basically got in the way. Although I continued to write sporadically and had a few features published along the way, writing as a potential career was forced to take a back seat while I concentrated on what turned into a 25-year career working in marketing and communications in the media and entertainment industries. I spent seven years marketing national newspapers, a couple of years working in entertainment PR and held senior communications roles at UKTV and Capital Radio. Latterly, I was the MD of a small marketing agency. It was all fast and furious and a fantastically rich source of material.

After the arrival of my second child, I happily gave up the day job and with the time needed and a host of life experiences to draw from, I was finally able to start writing more seriously.

Today I live in North London with my husband and our two sons. When I'm not writing, I can be found looking harassed on the school run, on the side lines of my sons' football matches or singing my heart out with my local branch of Popchoir.

I Can't Tell You Why is my first novel.
