This is the second book in the 'Need Pixies' series, and it flew by. This was a very easy and engaging read, I finished it before I'd even realised I was approaching the end. The book picks up exactly where the first one leaves off; there is no passing of time between books. This is the same with the third book, Entice which starts at the same point in the story where Captivate stops, which means there is a feeling of fluidity to the series that I really liked and made starting the next book a matter of urgency.

Zara, her werewolf boyfriend, Nick, and their friends Issie and Devyn think their pixie problems are over. They've trapped Zara's dad, a pixie king, and his followers in a house surrounded by iron to stop them getting out and killing more teenage boys. But, Zara's dad is growing weak in his iron prison, and his territory is ready for the taking. That's when Astley turns up, a pixie king himself, when he's around Zara's skin turns blue, the true colour of a pixie. Only being half pixie, and having not been turned, why is Zara reacting like this? But Astley isn't the only pixie king that's made his way to Maine to claim the territory, and he's certainly not the most evil.

Trying to maintain a stable relationship with your werewolf pixie-hating boyfriend is hard enough, without you turning blue every time a pixie king is near, which is more often than you would think. On top of that Zara's had an encounter with a Valkyrie taking dead warriors to Valhalla ready for the war that is brewing. But Valhalla is a place of myth, and Valkyries aren't meant to exist.

This is another great book from Carrie Jones – fresh, funny and actually quite frightening. I'm a little torn now both Nick and Astley are around; they're both pretty adorable and loving. Captivate isn't quite as good as Need nor is it as pulse racing as Entice but being the middle book, it's as good as it needs to be. Having already read the third book in the series, I can say I'm quite excited by the thought of a fourth and eagerly await its arrival.

Further reading suggestion: Make sure you read Entice the third book in the 'Need Pixies' series. If you like monsters read Monster High by Lisi Harrison for more supernatural high school action.

A huge thank you to Bloomsbury for sending me these books, and letting me indulge in the world of pixies.
