I Can Has Cheezburger, is a clever and witty anthology of some of the best pictures and captions from the fantastic lolcats website of the same name. The site has been growing in popularity in recent months, and so it was inevitable that a book would soon hit the shelves. Choosing which pics to include in the book could not have been an easy task, and some of the old favourites are there, alongside some less well known ones.

To those cat lovers unfamiliar with the internet equivalent, lolcats is a site where aficionados are asked to submit pictures, to which anyone can add witty/slightly risqué captions. The results are truly fantastic - some lovely pictures, with the kind of witty caption which always makes you think, just right, and/or, why didn’t I think of that?

For example, we see a very adorable fluffy kitten, with the caption oh hai, I has buffed ur floor. Or the guilty looking puss, claiming …been scratchin your records like a dj do.

This is a lovely little book, and would make an excellent present for a cat lover (we all know at least one of those…) Perhaps not too suitable for very young children, as there is an occasional risqué comment - to say nothing of the phonetic and Americanised spelling in the captions! But suitable for slightly older kids, and adults alike - and for the dog lovers amongst you, there's also an equivalent site for dogs, loldogs Ihasahotdog - which will hopefully soon have an equivalent book in publication. Great fun.

Younger children who love cats will enjoy Posy by Linda Newbery and Catherine Rayner and Tim the Tiny Horse by Harry Hill must have almost universal appeal.
