Wobble is a very busy little bear who has just learned to walk and now, of course, wants to walk everywhere. We see him here walking in to wake up his parents, treading on the cat, dancing and falling over, walking on a wall, splashing in a puddle until, of course, by the end of the day he has worn himself out and is too tired to walk up the stairs to bed!

I found it a little tricky initially to get into the rhythm of this story. I think that was because although it's written in rhyme, some of the phrases are spread out over 2 or more pages, so at first I was reading it straight, not even realising it was a rhyming poem. However, once I found the flow it worked well.

The illustrations are lovely. Wobble Bear has an appealing, rosy-cheeked little face and although the pictures are very simply drawn there's something rather sweet about them. In one we see Wobble walking home through the park following a line of white ducks and it's such a nice picture that I always want to pause over it to really enjoy it. It evokes the feelings of a lazy, late afternoon summer stroll in the park, with the golden sunlight casting long shadows across the grass for Wobble and the ducks.

There's lots here for younger toddlers to identify with obviously, and a few joining in moments for noise-making as Wobble splashes in the puddle or quacks like a duck. It's a lovely little board book, perfect for those who are pre-walking or have just begun to toddle and wobble about themselves.

I'd like to thank the publishers for sending a copy to The Bookbag.
