C.B. Calico is a Canadian author of thrillers, horror, and Women’s fiction. She already knew that she wanted to be a writer at age seven, when she wrote her first stories. Calico grew up in Germany, a country steeped into a rich and diverse tradition of literature, myth, and legend. She moved to Canada in the 1990s to attend university. For her Master’s degree in English, she researched contemporary British adaptations of the Grimms’ fairy tales. Her doctoral dissertation focused on theories of trauma to explore the correspondence between a series of medical symptoms associated with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and the formal innovation characteristic of modernist literature. While she still pursues her research interests and continues to write scholarly papers, she has recently turned to writing fiction. Dandelion Angel is her first novel. She is currently working on The Haunting at Black Wolf Creek, an eco-horror/suspense novel. Calico’s thriller Rio’s Case will be published next year as the first in a planned series of books for change—part of the proceeds will directly go to various animal charities.
